What have you tried? Feedback please!

It seems like new products and medical procedures are being introduced regularly to help couples conceive. Walk into any drugstore and the choices are mind-boggling. Has anyone tried any of these new products, such as ovulation predictor kits, and have they worked?
What about more complicated procedures, like in-vitro fertilization? Has anyone here tried that and found it successful? Unless you live under a rock, you have heard of the famous "Octomom" in the news. With in-vitro being so successful, as well as medical technology advancing enough to keep multiple premature babies alive and healthy, do you think it's a good idea to implant so many embryos at once?

And what about fertility drugs? I'd like to know if anyone here has tried them and what experiences they've had as a result.

I had trouble conceiving between my first and second child. Back then (the middle 80's) there wasn't much out there, and what was available was very expensive. The only tool out there to help find out if a woman was ovulating was the basal thermometer, which wasn't always accurate because of all the things that could affect your basal temperature, such as being sick or moving around too much before taking your temperature. Just reading the tiny numbers was a challenge!

Share your thoughts and experiences. I remember the ups and downs between thinking I was pregnant and then finding out I was not. It was tough on both myself and my husband. Does this make a marriage stronger or weaken it?

Have modern infertility fixes gone too far?

It is amazing how far medicine has come in terms of helping couples with infertility issues conceive, but when is it time to take a closer look at the ethical standards of practice in this field?

Do you think women should be screened before they are allowed to undergo fertility treatments including as in-vitro fertilization, fertility drugs and embryo transplants?

How many more situations are we going to see such as that of the Octomom?

I can't help but ask myself those questions. If you want to say it doesn't involve anyone but the couple involved, think again. The public has to pay for support services. Such huge families with multiple births create a financial burden on the basic infrastructure.

What do you think? Weigh in on this timely topic!!
