It seems like new products and medical procedures are being introduced regularly to help couples conceive. Walk into any drugstore and the choices are mind-boggling. Has anyone tried any of these new products, such as ovulation predictor kits, and have they worked?

What about more complicated procedures, like in-vitro fertilization? Has anyone here tried that and found it successful? Unless you live under a rock, you have heard of the famous "Octomom" in the news. With in-vitro being so successful, as well as medical technology advancing enough to keep multiple premature babies alive and healthy, do you think it's a good idea to implant so many embryos at once?

And what about fertility drugs? I'd like to know if anyone here has tried them and what experiences they've had as a result.

I had trouble conceiving between my first and second child. Back then (the middle 80's) there wasn't much out there, and what was available was very expensive. The only tool out there to help find out if a woman was ovulating was the basal thermometer, which wasn't always accurate because of all the things that could affect your basal temperature, such as being sick or moving around too much before taking your temperature. Just reading the tiny numbers was a challenge!

Share your thoughts and experiences. I remember the ups and downs between thinking I was pregnant and then finding out I was not. It was tough on both myself and my husband. Does this make a marriage stronger or weaken it?

I feel lucky that this was not an issue for us.

As far as the Octomom goes, I feel badly for the children. If she doesn't get any help, how is she going to be able to give them the love and attention they need? I think it was a selfish move on her part.

There are lots of things that doctors can do to help a couple have a baby these days. It's one of those situations where you need to go talk to the doctor and have tests done to see what the problem is, then the doctor can advise you on the best course of action. Both people need to be tested, so it's something you need to do together.

In my case, my Gyn found out that I had policystic ovaries or something along those lines. I had to take some medications and bam, I now have a 5 month old angel!

The advancements in this field of medicine has indeed gone a long long way. The basal thermometer these days is already integrated in a fertility monitor device that is said to predict if a woman is safe or on the other site, if a woman is good to conceive. Wow!

Hopefully every product / procedure works and as much as possible, natural/organic so that it won't harm what's left of our environment.
