I need help - I can't find the time to see my girlfriends anymore! I'm just too busy with the kids to get out of the house without bringing them along too. I can't afford a sitter and my husband works two jobs, so, when he IS home, he's just too beat to help.
Between nap times and meal times, shopping, cooking, laundry and cleaning, there's not enough time in the day as it is! But, I could really use a girl's night out, or even an afternoon out. How do I find the time? I seriously need to clone myself.
I mean, I love my kids, but I'm starting to talk baby talk all the time! I need some adult conversation and a few laughs with my friends!!
Help!

Why don't you invite your friends over to your house? The kids can play while you catch up.
Or, plan a day at the beach. Bring the kids along too.
You can do lots of things with your friends and your kids together. Even if it's for a short visit, like coffee, it's better than not seeing them at all.

I don't know how you can do this, but find a way! Friendship is so important, especially to moms and dads of young kids. You need a breather. It will make you a much better parent. You'll have much more to give to your children, because friendship rounds out a person and makes them much happier and stronger.
Also, you want to be a good role model. By showing your kids how to be a good friend, they will learn how to sustain great friendships when they get older.
You aren't doing any harm by finding a relative or having your spouse watch the kids for an hour or two while you enjoy some relaxing talk with a buddy.
Remember, someday your babies will be all grown up and will strike out on their own, and you'll still need your friends to keep you company. Don't drift away from important friendships.

| Thanks for all the good advice! I had a night out with the girls and we had such a great time. We went shopping and out to dinner, then back to my friend Sue's house to chat for a bit. It's amazing how a few hours away can revitalize you. And, I missed my friends. I was afraid we were drifting apart, but now, I am sure we are not.
